Sudhir was spoke in “Transform – 2nd International Conference on Transgender Rights and the Law” in a panel titled “Current Debates on Transgender Equality” on 15th April 2018.
Sudhir discussed affirmative action policies for transgender persons along the lines of either caste or sex. Would it then be posed in the context of horizontal versus vertical reservation. If the trans identity was to be assimilated along the vertical lines of caste, would they be subsumed by the SC/ST or OBC category or were they to be a horizontal category for sex based affirmative action policies?
